Ubud Cultural Tour — Rice Terraces, Tirta Empul Temple & Coffee Plantation

Your journey begins in the early morning mist as Ubud slowly wakes up. You will enter the cool canopy of the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary (Mandala Suci Wenara Wana), where giant banyan trees and moss-covered stone carvings look like they have stood since the dawn of time. Here, local grey macaques swing through the branches in a peaceful playground where nature and Balinese spirits coexist. Walking along the stone paths, you will feel the deep peace of a forest preserved for centuries under the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana—the harmony between humans, nature, and the divine.
Leaving the forest, you will navigate the scenic roads north to the rolling hills of Tegallalang. Here, the landscape unfolds into a breathtaking sea of emerald green: the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. These cascading fields are carved directly into the steep valley walls, creating a giant green staircase. You can hike down the narrow ridges between the paddies, feel the rich volcanic earth, and hear the gentle murmur of water flowing through the subak irrigation canals. Over a relaxed lunch at a panoramic viewpoint, you will sit on the valley rim and enjoy traditional Balinese dishes overlooking this stunning UNESCO-recognized landscape.
Next, you will travel to the sacred water temple of Pura Tirta Empul in the village of Manukaya. Built around a bubbling natural spring in 962 AD, this temple is one of the most spiritually significant sites in Bali. The heart of the temple is a large stone pool fed by crystal-clear mountain water. Here, Balinese Hindus and visitors from around the world participate in a ritual purification ceremony called Melukat. Standing in the cool water, you will move from spout to spout, bowing your head under the gushing springs to wash away physical and spiritual impurities amidst the scent of burning incense and fresh flower offerings.
Your final stop takes you to a traditional Ubud Coffee Plantation hidden in the lush tropical valley. Take a guided walk through organic spice gardens to see cacao, vanilla, and clove plants growing wild. You will learn about the traditional methods of hand-roasting Balinese coffee and sample a complimentary flight of organic herbal teas and local coffees. Savor your drinks at sunset, taking in the panoramic views of the surrounding jungle before your driver takes you back to your hotel.
